What should you eat on a drizzly day, when your day was a bit meh? When you’ve had a 5 o clock meeting that still went on for over an hour. When you had to walk home after thinking you were getting a lift to save you slogging up that hill. When you didn’t quite finish everything you needed to at work, but couldn’t quite find the oomph to just get it done. When your forks are all broken (pictured).
This. This is what you should make. Pick up 4 ingredients from the corner shop on the way home, create this plate of creamy deliciousness and you’ll make life just a little bit better.
5 Minute Creamy Mushroom Tagliatelle
knob of butter
1 garlic clove, crushed
150g mushrooms, torn into small pieces (or however much you like really – don’t forget they’ll shrink when fried!)
80g tagliatelle (fresh is so much better in my opinion)
splash of double cream
salt and pepper
- Put the kettle on
- Melt the butter in a frying pan and add the mushrooms and garlic when sizzling
- Put the boiling water into a large pan, add salt then boil the pasta according to packet instructions.
- Drain the pasta and mix in the mushrooms, cream, salt and pepper.
- Enjoy with a glass of chilled soave (hopefully you picked up a bottle of this or similar from that corner shop).
